And on the seventh day

March 28, 2010

After 6 days without a dirty nappy (although plenty of wet ones, don’t worry!), Lady G finally pooed.  This was almost as much a relief for me as it must have been for her – except she did it in the middle of our Trans-Tasman flight back home after 2 hours of writhing and grizzling while I tried in vain to settle her, unsure as to what was so wrong.  She then slept peacefully until we pulled up at the gate, although I do still think we got some evils from the people sitting behind us!  Never mind.

It’s not unusual apparently – some kids can go up to 10 days without a dirty nappy – although I’d hate to see the results of that.  My friend has a story of a once-weekly-pooer who visited her on that day,  and after the event they unswaddled him to find him covered from the neck down, even to the point of it being inside his socks…  Apparently this required a complicated manouever involving several people and a large rubbish bag in order to get him into the bath.

Perhaps I’ll just be thankful that while she might not choose the most convenient location, at least the amount was managable and cloth nappies are great at keeping poosplosions to a minimum.

the once-weekly pooper part sounds like every parent’s nightmare regarding poops 😉
