Amber relief?

OK, so I’ll admit I’m a skeptical old thing, inclined to raise an eyebrow at the claims of psychics, naturopathy and homeopathy.  But several people I know have raved about the effects of amber necklaces on their bubs when teething.  These aren’t designed to be chewed on; instead apparently the natural resin of baltic amber releases succinic acid which is meant to act as a natural pain reliever and anti-inflammatory.

[Skeptic] I’m a little unclear on how this is actually meant to happen, since you need to heat it to over 200C in order to release oils.[/Skeptic]

[Mum] It may indeed help with the discomfort and drooling like people say, plus it looks really cute, and may stop people asking whether she’s a boy.  What have I got to lose? (Besides the moolah that is).[/Mum]

Anyone have any experiences with these?
