Beacon of hope

May 21, 2011

We had our farewell dildocam last Thursday, 6w6d and were relieved to see one strongly beating little heart, 133bpm, hCG 53,000 and all’s well.  The Baron got all excited and kept on exclaiming about how it looked like a little lighthouse beacon, blinking away on the screen.  So we have been released from Monash IVF’s caring embrace and in the words of the nurse, I “can go on and be just another regular pregnant lady”.

Would that be incredible tiredness and morning sickness she’s referring to?  This week I have felt like I have been smacked by a hammer; comatose on the sofa at 7pm, with all good intentions of the gym forgotten.  And the constant feeling of not-quite-nausea is pretty unpleasant too.  I had a blissful first trimester with Lady G, with not a whisper of either so it’s been an unpleasant surprise to suddenly be knocked down like this as I don’t have the luxury of taking it as easy as I did the first time.  Hopefully though it will pass soon (Nine suggests her symptoms disappeared by 10 weeks), and in the meantime it takes away the worry of ‘is this thing still on?’
